On August 6 at around 7:45 a.m., Ronald Ellis stepped into the roadway in the 4800 block of Baxter Road, where he was hit by an SUV, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement's investigation, police said.
On August 8, Ellis died of his injuries, authorities reported.
